The Story

Why is it called Pranav's Pentahouse?

That's me (Pranav) in Srinagar in Dec 2020.

Dad selected this photo, as the scenery is a total contrast to Goa.

That's Me: Pranav@2022

Hi,

I'm Pranav.....I'm 10 years old.

Let me share the story behind my Pentahouse, and why it's named as such.

I'm taking help of my family (and trust me it's an entire village) to share it from my perspective...

First things first: I am autistic or "special". I was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at the age of one and a half years, though my mom seemingly suspected my autism when I was just 9 months!

As a result, my communications skills (specially conversation) are weak, but my visual capabilities are super-human.

I love to "see" things.

I can stare at numbers, shapes, alphabets, insects, objects, and even a drop of water for what may seem to be an "insane period of time". I love to watch videos of numbers, alphabets and shapes, and I can watch them for hours at length, in various languages. Sometimes, I also watch Bollywood songs of Alia, Aishwarya, Deepika, or Priyanka.

It's my love for shapes and numbers that's inspired the "Penta" (aka 5) -- as that's the number of bed-rooms available.

It's also a cute play on the fact that the property is a "Penthouse"--with a view that's so amazing that I can't even describe. Hopefully, photos on this website will give you some idea.

Second, why my name?

The pandemic changed a lot for me. I got restricted to my home in Gurgaon. Entire summer of 2020 passed, without a single session of swimming. Autumn came but most things still remained shut.

I had very few outlets to expend my energy, and believe me that makes me go crazy. I started having meltdowns and my atypical behaviour increased. So my parents planned a trip to Goa, and we landed there in early November 2020.

That trip made me fall in love with the beaches of Goa, and the property we had stayed at, which had its own pool. I was swimming for 8 to 10 hours daily--either at the pool or at the beach.

Swimming is very therapeutic for me, and many autistic kids.

Me being able to swim, for so long, and that too--in the winter months--made my mom decide to buy a property in Goa. If I could not swim up North (India), she could always get me here over weekends or holidays, and I could swim.

Hence, I'm the reason, she started hunting for a place in Goa--and only looked for those options, which had room for a swimming pool.

She also realised that this could be a good source of income for me.

So, whatever this property earns goes into my bank account, and is paving the path to a financially independent future for me. She also has this dream of building a world class facility for 100 autistic children and is hoping to generate enough funding overtime.

(Between you and me--I believe, I am learning skills at school that will enable me to develop other channels for my financial freedom too. But, I can't fault mom--for taking extra precautions.)

Trust me, finding this penthouse was no mean feat for my parents--especially my mom. She basically stationed herself in Goa, for almost a month. How she finalised on this property--that story is surreal, and I will share it in a following post.

My wish for you...

If you do decide to stay at the Pentahouse, I hope and pray that you are blessed with my visual powers for the few days that you're here--so you can see and experience the beauty of God's creations--just like I can. The terrace, the deck and all windows of the Pentahouse provide breath-taking views, you just need to open your eyes, like I do.

Here's a hint of what I get mesmerised by...

  • The beautiful Mandovi river meeting the vast Arabian Sea that's filled with dolphins.

  • The buzzing city of Panaji that lights up beautifully at night--but is outdone by the mesmerising lights of the Casino ships stationed in the Mandovi bay.

  • The lovely hills and sea-side properties of Reis Magos.

  • From the pool (and even the kitchen!), the view of the forest that's right next to our building.

  • The view of Goa's parliament, High Court and the beautifully lit (at night) Atal Setu.

  • Glimpses of Old Goa.

I'm confident that whatever you will see and feel here, will not only soothe your eyes, but your soul too.
